Significantly further afield than Warrington we went to Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure playground. This is a park you have to pay to get in (£7 per person when we visited, charges from when children are 3yrs old), but we were meeting family and wanted to be sure of toilet and cafe facilities. The £7 currently gets you a 3hr session and they start at either 10am or 1:30pm. https://www.chatsworth.org/farmyard-playground/
The one way system leads you first through the farmyard but our focus was on the playground as Little Park Explorer was a little bit nervous around some of the larger animals. There is a little drive-on tractor area just at the end of the farmyard and then you walk up a slope to the adventure playground.
It is a massive set up, with lots of space between the equipment, and a good variety of areas. We went on a miserable Saturday afternoon, which started off drizzling and ended the afternoon raining heavily - so it wasn't very busy!
We spent most of our time in the sand and water areas. There are two similar ones which gives a little bit more space as it was a popular area. Luckily we knew they were here so we brought bucket and spade, parks often don't let you know (Heaton park, I'm looking at you) but in this case we were prepared.
What was particularly nice about the water section is that you source the water from a little stream with an Archimedes screw. Beyond the interesting physics this brings, it means they can't turn the water off in Winter like some playgrounds do. The downside is that you need a spare adult to provide a steady stream of water if your children are younger.
Eventually we dragged Little Park Explorer away from the sand to explore the other areas but the climbing frames and slides were a little bit wet.
There was actually a whole section of the playground that we didn't even explore, admittedly aimed slightly older than Little Park Explorer. This is where the trampoline, is, but the signs said you need to take your shoes off, and it was raining hard at this time. Really we had value for money by this point and retreated to the cafe. As has always been my experience with Chatsworth (we used to live closer to the Peak District and have visited a few times) the prices were high but the quality was good.
