Adjacent to Risley Moss lies Birchwood Forest Park. There's a generous car park which leads directly to the playground which consists a small outdoor gym, a younger child playground and then a couple of pieces of equipment for older children.
The play equipment is pretty standard: swings, climbing frame, roundabout, some floor markings. The roundabout was a bit hard to push but everything else was in decent condition. When we visited on a Sunday there were a few families there.
Next to the playground is a big green area with a football pitch, and a couple of wooden statues. There's a building that in previous years has been open with a cafe and toilets, and the friends group have organised events in the past - unsurprisingly none of that was open when we visited this year.
There's a path round the green area, and signposted are a ball play area and a skate park & BMX track. Little Park Explorer adored the BMX track on her balance bike and we've been back since for her to have another go on it. At the weekend it was pretty popular but all the older kids gave our little one plenty of space and took turns on the BMX track. We went back again during the week when we had it to ourselves and she went round it for about 20 minutes.
Parking - free and pretty plentiful parking
Toilets - Sometimes by the playground
Cafe - Sometimes open by the playground
